GUEST RULES
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Kahkwa Club. We ask that all guests of the Club follow the established rules and regulations in order to maintain the dignity of a private country club, and to abide by existing local, state and federal laws. We ask that all guests make prior arrangements with an existing member or Club manager before utilizing the Club. We look forward to your visit; please do not hesitate to ask our staff for anything you might need during your stay!
FACILITIES
Guests who use any of the Club’s facilities for which there is an established guests charge must be accompanied by a member. Guests using the golf facilities shall register at the Pro Shop for appropriate guest cards and fees. Guests using the Aquatic Center shall register with the attendant and signed in by the member for appropriate guests fees. Guests using the Tennis facilities shall register with the tennis Pro Shop for appropriate cards and fees.
ATTIRE
Members, guests and children are to be appropriately dressed while in and around the clubhouse, the following is suggested as a guideline for various areas of the Club. Please be reminded that children above the age of 15 are asked to comply with the adult’s dress code. Tank tops, swim suits, absence of shoes, etc. are not considered proper attire for any area of the clubhouse. We would like to encourage casual dress in all areas, jackets, business and formal attire are worn at the pleasure of the member. We would ask that no blue jeans or cargo style pants and shorts are to be worn. Jeans are acceptable in the Tap Room only. Hats on gentlemen are welcome on the golf course however are not acceptable in the clubhouse.
CLUB HOUSE
No property of the club shall be removed from the Clubhouse or from the grounds of the Club. All beverages taken onto the golf course must be disposable, non-glass containers.
No advertising or solicitation will be permitted in the Club House or on the grounds of the Club.
Cell phones, Blackberries and wireless devises and their usage is discouraged in the Clubhouse. Members and their guests are encouraged to check messages before entering the building. Phones brought into the Club House should be on vibrate or non-ringing mode and necessary conversations should be continued in the lobby, hallway or outside or any other unoccupied area. Phone conversations at the bar, dining room or outside patio negatively impact other members’ enjoyment of our facilities and therefore are prohibited.
In order to further promote the health and enjoyment of our Club, we will institute the following smoking policy in the Clubhouse. Please be considerate to everyone and comply with these following rules:
First floor – all areas No Smoking, No Exceptions
First Floor, Outside Patio – No Smoking when food is being offered
Men’s Card Room – Smoking allowed
Tap Room – No Smoking when food is being offered
GENERAL
Clothing, luggage, golf clubs, and sundry items must be stored in lockers or removed from the Club house. The Kahkwa Club assumes no responsibility with respect to golf clubs or any personal property of members or guests. All members are responsible for the conduct of their guests. Members must supervise and be responsible for the activities of their small children.
Parking
All cars must be parked only in the areas reserved for parking. Please park well within the white lines to afford maximum clearance. Cars improperly parked will be marked with a warning sticker.
Dogs: Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the Club house or on the grounds of the Club at any time unless they are seeing eye companions.
Loss of articles: Members are requested, upon entering the Club house, to deposit their hats, overcoats and other personal articles in the cloak room or in their locker. Automobiles containing valuables should be locked. The Club will not be responsible for the loss of any articles in the Club House or on the grounds of the Club.
Shoe Care: Care of shoes and other equipment is provided by the locker room attendant. The attendant will unlock and lock lockers at the request and permission of a member, but will not let the keys out of his possession at any time.
Gratuity: Gratuities for the locker room attendant are not required. However members having guests who use the locker room facilities may wish to compensate the locker room attendant for service rendered.
GOLF
Pace of Play: Proper action will be taken with members who hold up play on the golf course. An 18 hole round should be completed in 4 hours or less, and in no event should it take longer than 4 hours and 15 minutes. Players who stop for refreshments after planning nine holes must occupy the next tee before the following players arrive at the tee or they may lose their position on the golf course. When players exit the 9th green, if the 10th tee is unoccupied because a group remains seated on the veranda, the 9th hole exiting players have the right to proceed immediately to the 10th tee and play through the veranda group without regard to where other players are on the 10th hole, providing the advancing group does not utilize the veranda for refreshment.
Golf Attire: Acceptable golf attire must be worn on the golf course, practice ranges and practice putting greens. For men, suitable length shorts (no cargo shorts or pants), collared or mock T-neck golf shirts are acceptable attire. For women, suitable length shorts, collared or collarless ( no v-neck collarless) golf shirts and sleeveless golf shirts are acceptable. Halter-tops, cutoffs, sweatpants, tennis shorts, bathing suits, cargo shorts or jeans are not appropriate attire. Members or guests in inappropriate attire will be denied access to the course.
Lightning: In case of lightning and dangerous conditions on the golf course sirens are sounded (a high repeating low tone), and all golfers must stop play and proceed to the nearest shelter. Players are not to resume play until the “all clear” has sounded (solid tone). Caddies are instructed to follow these rules with absolutely no exceptions.
Guest Rules, golf related:
- Subject to the limitations contained in this section, golf members, special members with golf privileges and spouses and dependents of golf members may sponsor one guest during times in which such member-hosts are permitted to play. Except as otherwise provided in sections 5 and 7, below, guests must play with their member-host.
- Special members with social privileges may not extend golf privileges to guests and they may not be the guest of any members who are entitled to sponsor golf guests.
- All guests must be registered by their member-host.
- A golf member may introduce up to three guests on Saturday and Holidays after 12:00 noon, on Sunday after 10:00 a.m. and on Wednesday before 11:30 a.m. and after 2:30 p.m. A forecaddie must be employed (if available) when the group consists of three guests.
- A golf member may introduce up to seven guests on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A golf member must play with one of the four-ball groups. The other foursome must play adjacent to the golf member’s foursome and employ a forecaddie, if available.
- No Resident of Erie County may play as a guest more than 4 times in any year. It shall be the responsibility of the member- host to ascertain the number of times his or her proposed guest has played at Kahkwa during the year.
- On application by a golf member to the secretary of the Kahkwa Club, non residents of Erie County may have guest privileges extended to them, subject to the payment of full guest greens fees. if the golf member will not be playing with his or her non-resident guests, appropriate arrangements shall be made with the pro shop prior to the arrival of the guests.
- Member-hosts shall be responsible for the conduct of their guests and shall assume responsibility for all charges by their guests and got any and all damages to the property of the Kahkwa Club.
Golf Carts:
- Golf cars are leased by the Club for the use of members and guests for use on the golf course only.
- When two cars are rented in a foursome by members, the use of a forecaddie is encouraged but not mandatory.
- Any outside group using golf cars must have at least one forecaddie in each foursome.
- Each person who rents a golf car shall sign a sales slip which includes a “Release from Liability Agreement” as furnished at the Golf Pro Shop.
- Golf cars will be supplied on a first come, first served basis. When a group is on the first tee ready to play golf, a golf car will be assigned is requested and if one is available. No member will be permitted to reserve a golf car in advance or have one assigned, then go to change clothes or have lunch.
- The Caddy Master shall return golf cars and golf clubs of members left outside the men’s locker room, to the Pro Shop. Golf equipment left on the cars is at the owner’s risk. Caddies are instructed not to drive golf cars.
- Members will be charged for damage to golf cars.
- All members shall abide by the published golf car rules.
- No cars are to be driven within 30 feet of the greens or within the areas marked by signs or white lines as being off limits for golf cars.
